Zechariah, the Last Aaronic Kohen Gadol of Aries

The traditional High Priests of Israel were of the lineage of Moses' brother Aaron, to whom, in turn, both Zechariah and Elizabeth were akin. During the Herodian Dynasty, the traditional order had become increasingly under attack by Herod in favor of political installments by Herod and his family. This is in part why Herod went about at one point, attempting to kill off the first-born sons of Israel: to kill of the lineage of the Kohen Gadol (Zechariah). The facts surrounding Zechariah's time in the temple and John the Baptist's conception and birth show that Zechariah presided over the Jewish High Holy Days (at the Autumn Equinox) at the temple, indicating that he was in fact the true Kohen Gadol (Aaronic High Priest) of his time. Subsequent ''priests'' (whom Herod installed and whom were not of the lineage of Aaron) were thus called rabbis, which means 'Father' in Hebrew. That is why Jesus spoke in length against the priesthood of his latter days, and warned the masses against referring to the priests as ''fathers'' (rabbis): Jesus' words were not an attack on his followers' genetic fathers, but rather they were in protest of Herod's attempt to usurp the Aaronic priesthood.
