Detrimental Cusps

An Age is comprised of several phases. In its infancy it shares some of the characters of the previous age. This time is called the cusp. As time progresses further into an age, that age's influence strengthens while the previous age's influence weakens. About one-quarter of the way into the new age, the previous age no longer influences the current age. This is why the middle of the Age of Pisces is literally referred to as the Middle Ages, and is dated as having taken place from the 5th to 15th centuries AD. As the current age advances, it begins to take on some of the influence of the next age to come.

The House that lies on the zodiac wheel at the opposite end of a House, is considered its detriment. For example, the detriment (opposition) of Gemini is Sagittarius. As the Sun transits from one House to another, likewise a detrimental cusp occurs. A detrimental cusp isn't significant during the sun's transit through a solar year, as the detrimental cusp would only last a few days. However, the cusp between two Ages can lead to a detrimental cusp of significant consequence. Each sign of the zodiac has good and bad qualities, which may not be felt much on a yearly basis, but on the basis of the Great Year (24,000 years), such influence would be quite profound and would last a substantial amount of time.

We are currently passing through the cusp between the Age of Pisces and the Age of Aquarius, which means that there is a detrimental cusp in play against us from Virgo and Leo. That said, a look back at the most recent cusps between Ages reveals that the detrimental forces at play in the past as well as at the present time, are quite profound.

Fish Sacrificed: In Catholicism, fish is the main course for the dinner meal on Friday, which is likewise the first meal of the Jewish Sabbaths, which begin on Friday evenings. While Jews attempt to refrain from worldly matters during this evening, Catholics are busy eating fish (the tacit flesh of their solar lord Pisces). the flock of the Piscean savior are his little fishes, and he and his followers are to be "fishers of Men".
